Directions.
From the airport, make a right onto the Carretera Norte, or the north highway leading out of Managua.
• Go through the roundabout and go straight for another 5 kilometers. You will enter a town called Tipitapa, make a right.
• Follow this road for about 20 minutes (you will pass large manufacturing plants on both sides of the road) until the road ends at Masaya. Make a left onto Carretera Masaya. You will pass Papa Johns on your left shortly after turning.
• At the second roundabout, turn right towards Masaya/Catarina. You will pass by nurseries selling plants alongside the road. Follow this road for 25 minutes or so.
• You will drive straight through one rotunda.
• At the second rotunda, (Mombacho Volcano), make a right towards Nandaime/Peñas Blancas.
• After about 15 minutes you will encounter another fork in the road (you are in Nandaime), make a left towards Peñas Blancas. You are now on the Pan-American Highway.
• Follow the Pan Am Hwy. for about one hour, passing through the roundabout in Rivas. Continue straight.
• 15 minutes after passing Rivas you will see a sign for San Juan del Sur. There is a large obelisk marking the turn.
Make a right.
• Follow the road to San Juan del Sur for 18 kms into town.
• As you reach San Juan del Sur, you will get to a large sign that reads “Welcome to San Juan del Sur”
• After the sign continue straight, after 100 meters or so you will see a dirt road on your right (this is the road that goes north to the beaches: Marsella, Madera, Majagual)
• Continue straight. You will see Pali (supermarket) on your left and some houses along the road.
• You will pass a paved road on your left. This road goes to the beaches south (Remanso, Yankee, Coco, La Flor).
• Continue straight. A few hundred meters farther you will pass the Texaco station (only gas station in town). Continue straight.
• Aurora Beachfront is located 300 meters straight towards the beach from the Texaco. It is a large, white, two-story building with big Aurora Beachfront Realty signs.
